Morgan County Democratic Party Chairman Resigns

Daymon L. Brodhacker has resigned as chairman of the Morgan County Democratic Central Committee.  In making his announcement, Brodhacker said, “On June 10th, I submitted my resignation to the state chairman, the 4th District chairman and the Morgan county Democratic Central Committee officers. I have, since then, sent letters to the currently seated county precinct and vice-precinct committee people announcing my resignation and providing information about the special meeting that will be conducted to elect my successor”.  Brodhacker went on to say, “I have resigned because my priorities have shifted and because of those priority shifts, I will not have the time to effectively discharge the duties of chairman”.

Brodhacker was unanimously elected chairman of the Morgan County Democrats in a special election in 2005. He was elected unanimously again last March.

Brodhacker concluded his comments saying, “Serving Morgan county Democrats at the executive level as chairman and before that, as treasurer, has provided me many unique experiences and memories I will take with me as I leave the chairmanship. I appreciate and thank all who have helped me (during my chairmanship). I especially thank my current vice chairman, Debra Marr, and secretary, Nancy Brattain. They have been with me from the beginning of my chairmanship and have been extremely important to the accomplishment of all of the work that has lead to any and all successes we have had”.

A special meeting has been set for Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 9 a.m. at the Morgan County Library in Martinsville in order for Precinct and Vice Precinct committeemen to elect a new chairman. In one of his final directions before leaving the chairmanship, Brodhacker is requiring that any Democrat seeking election as chairman submit their written letters of candidacy to him and Secretary Nancy Brattain, to be received by them by June 17, 2009. Candidates may send their letters to Daymon L. Brodhacker, 2195 Norwich Place, Martinsville, Indiana, 46151 and Nancy Brattain, 39 Olive Church Road, Paragon, Indiana, 46166.

Indiana Democratic Party Announces Party Patron Program.

As we turn our attention to next year's mid-term elections, I want to share with you an innovative new program we've designed to boost financial support for both the Indiana Democratic Party and your local party organization.

It's called the Party Patron program.

We're asking loyal Democrats across Indiana to commit to donating at least $10 each month to become Party Patrons.

In return for a recurring donation, each Party Patron will receive a membership card, bumper sticker and 20% discount to all State Party fundraising events, including the annual Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner, IDEA Golf Outing and Holiday Gala. All you need is a credit card to sign up!

Proceeds from the program will be split between the State Party and the local party where the Patron is from.

As a Democratic leader in your community, I'm asking you to spread the word about this great new program - and sign up as many of your friends as possible! The more people we can get to commit to this initiative, the more Democrats across our state will benefit.

To sign up or download a brochure with more information about the program, please visit www.indems.org/partypatron.

We have to make sure we're prepared for Republicans to challenge us next year. They've already shown that "no" is the only answer they have in response to our vision for America's future, so we need to make sure Democrats maintain control in order to move our state and nation in a new direction.

If you have any questions about the Party Patron program, please don't hesitate to e-mail us at info@indems.org.

Thanks for your time, and we look forward to working with you to make sure Hoosier Democrats know about and participate in this exciting new program.

Democratically yours,

Daniel J. Parker
State Chair
