| Changes in upcoming City Council meeting dates | Please note that due to a scheduling conflict for the mayor, the Board of Works & City Council meetings, regularly scheduled for today, Monday, August 16th, have been changed to Monday August 23rd at their regularly scheduled times. However, due to advertised notice to open bids for Rose Street watermain extension, there has to be a Special Board of Works meeting @ 6:00 p.m. on the 16th for the only purpose of opening the sealed bids, there will be no other business conducted at this meeting.
The Board of Works & City Council meetings, scheduled for Monday, September 6th, have been rescheduled to Tuesday, September 7th, due to the Labor Day holiday. The meetings will take place at their usual times.

Community Foundation Matching and Arts Grant Cycle Now Open - Applications Due Sept. 3
| The Community Foundation of Morgan County Matching and Arts Grant cycle is now open. Non-profit organizations which serve Morgan County residents are encouraged to apply for grants from the CFMC. Matching grants require that the organization raise an amount at least equal to what they ask for on their application. (This may include in-kind donations and services.) Arts grants require no matching funds.
Applications are due to the CFMC office no later than 4 p.m. on September 3.

| Free "How to Apply for Grants" Seminar August 17 and 19 |
Individuals interested in applying for the Community Foundation of Morgan County Matching and Arts Grant Cycle are invited to a free "How to Apply for Grants" Seminar on August 17 or 19. The same seminar will be offered in both locations, so individuals should only attend one of the two dates. At the seminar, participants will be walked through the CFMC grant application and can ask questions about the application process. The seminar on the 17th will be at the CFMC Office in the Academy Building at 250 N. Monroe St., Mooresville. The seminar on the 19th will be at the Morgan County Public Library at 110 S. Jefferson St., Martinsville.

Energy Conservation Helpful in Extreme Heat
| Hoosier Energy, the power supplier for central and southern Indiana's electric cooperatives including South Central Indiana REMC, is prepared to meet high demand for power during the extended heat wave forecasted for this week.
The Midwest Independent System Operator (MISO), which oversees the power grid in Indiana and other Midwestern states, reports reserve generating capacity is available to meet forecasted demand.

| NO COST VOLUNTEERS AVAILABLE IN MORGAN COUNTY | NO COST VOLUNTEERS AVAILABLE IN MORGAN COUNTY - This is important. The IMPACT Indiana Manpower Placement and Comprehensive Training program coordinates. They help people regain employment and become self sufficient. The participants in the program are welfare recipients who must volunteer 15+ hours each week to continue to receive their benefits. Through Arbor Education and Training, a company that works for the State of Indiana through the above program, they will have 300 people to perform volunteer duties in Martinsville and 180 for volunteer duties in Mooresville beginning next month. They currently do not have many locations to place these people and need to move quickly to get information to area non-profits. A brochure is available.
